The Dolmen Fontanaccia, at Sartene,in Corsia, echoes a Sardinian design or vice versa. Yet, dolmens are one of the oldest megalithic structures which are found all over the world with the greatest concentration in Korea.

Constructed of heavy slabs of rock and a capped roof this monument is a fine example of dolmen construction on the island.

There are many other dolmens that were constructed in Corsica and some share similar design canons.

Dolmens are normally dated to the Neolithic period - around 5000 years ago. A spiritual or religious commonality existed that motivated a people, worldwide, to construct the enigmatic dolmen.
